♥Chinese New Year (Sunday, February 10, 2008 / 4:55 pm)
Happy Chinese New Year!
It started off with a sumptous reunion dinner on Wednesday evening.
I felted so bloated after eating all the special good food that I could get to eat only once in a year.
After the steamboat feast, my family settled down for mahjong session.
And I can't believe that I spent almost 4 hours playing the mahjong and mahjong.
By the end of the 4hrs, I had a deficit in my account to welcome the new year, and sadly need to close the mahjong session.
This cny was abit dry as compared to previous years.
The original plan of getting my dear cousins over to my house for a meal and mahjong sessions was coercly cancelled due to some unfortunate circumstances.
CNY became less livelier without them around.
But on the second day of cny, my paternal's relatives came over to my house for lunch and chat. den we proceeded to my granny's house and here began the boring chat.
my granny: yien yien, how many years you need to study for university? (she said in cantonese)
me: 3
my granny: now which year r u in?
and this typical conversation repeats in the subsequent conversation with others.
*yawnz...
I also had the urge to slap people especially when they asked me to take honours no matter wad.
They keep telling me...
Relative: Degree is so common nowadays, must get honours
Me: Yeah, I noe but no use wasting my $$$ if I can't get 2nd upper class honours
Relative: Den you go get 2nd upper class lah.
Me: Erm, based on my result now, abit difficult.
Relative: You still have 1 year wad, work hard till you get lor.
*Hah... you think so easy is it. I onli get the pathetic 3.14 caps pt after the fall last sem. Even if miracles happen after I worked damn hard, it would be a relief that I can hit 3.5
I hate it when people behave like tt and told me such things. It happened once from a uni friend, and I am pissed off. You are not me, so 不要说得这样轻松. I only want to be realistic and practical, tt's all.
Anyway, tat night, I hit the mahjong session again after my dinner. However, did manage to earn a little back.
This year, Cny was considered a 'fruitful' one because unexpectedly, we received 2 big ang paos.
So after the long break of cny holidays, reality comes in as I need to complete my design assignment due on thur and news story assignment due on fri. *sigh
How i wish, there's no lesson tml so that my family could go to sentosa together!
This cny taught me that I should cherish every moment with my loved ones, as you never noe the unexpected parting ahead of you. life's vulnerable
