♥Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (Saturday, July 18, 2009 / 12:41 am)
Wad's hot in the cinema for this weekend? It's Harry Potter! I guess the movie sells hot even though everyone (knowingly) expects that it wun be an exceptionally great one.
Because if you have watched the previous ones, you wouldn't want to miss the latest one. And because I'm one of those people too...
I caught this movie last night and couldn't help but shrugged my shoulders after I sat through the 154 mins... No doubt, it was better than the Order of Phoenix probably it supposedly had a richer plot. However, the movie was still disappointing.
The whole movie was very monotonous.... No cliffhanger and the climax was bad...as in, if you haven't read that book, somehow you might fail to detect that part of the story as the climax and might find some parts strange.
Especially when this moment you see Ginny and Dean Thomas happily together, another moment, they quarrelled and the next moment you see Ginny already together with Harry....
And somehow, I also got the feeling that the movie din portray the significance of the half blood prince and its relations with the book well...I find it quite absurd that the director just swept past its significance and ended abruptly with Professor Snape suddenly blurting out 'I'm the half blood prince' during the fight.... There was an absence of process that should have involved some suspicions of Snape towards Potter's possession of the book earlier on.
Then again, I understand, the movie though quite a long one just couldn't film every nitty-gritty detail of the book. Perhaps, J. K Rowling shouldn't have written too much..lol, so that the director wouldn't have to compress the plot given the time constraints... Or should I say, the movie is filmed in such a way that the director assumes that you should have read the book and have a certain level of understanding of the incidents already...
Anyway...I still prefer the first 2 Harry Potter movies...where Harry Potter was seriously much cuter.
And I really wonder how many of the kids in cinema last night actually understand what was going on besides a few lame jokes in the movie.
Nevertheless, yesterday was a fun-filled short gathering with Andreas, ZL, Adeline, PW & May
