Our way of celebrating National Day (Monday, August 10, 2009 / 5:55 pm)

How did you celebrate Singapore's 44th birthday? :) :)

Not trying to be super patriotic or wad, but we wore red tops (for those who have red shirts) and headed down to marina barrage to catch the fireworks.

And here we were on the train. We occupied the whole row of seats!

As we boarded the shuttle bus to the barrage, we met an old lady who was asking us if the bus could bring her to NDP. We told her that it only meant for people going to the barrage and NDP is at city hall, esplanade there and not at marina barrage. After she confirmed with a few people (actually, they were all from my group of friends), she finally accepted that she was heading the wrong direction and she suddenly shouted to go down the bus and scolded the shuttle bus driver. -_- why so keen to show the ugly side of Singaporeans during Singapore's birthday. sigh.

When we arrived at barrage, approximately, 4.30pm, it was actually quite packed with people already. We found a spot and spread the mats. The grass was in fact very damp that day. (wonder if it rained or wad)

So while waiting for the night to fall, we basically did 3 things: play taboo & andreas' crocodile, take endless photos and eat

It was still hazy, so the landscape wasn't clear.

Mei mei brought along the camera stand so we could take group pics without troubling others. (Weiyi brought 2 of her friends along to join us)

Minghoe was there as well to celebrate with his friends. And Andreas went up to 联络感情 with him, in fact, expressing her concern over his love life...lol... perhaps feeling lonely with ZL & May's presence...lol

Andreas was promoting the latest 7-up REVIVE (abit irrelevant lah, she and my mei mei always do the weirdest thing in the world) lol.

And I got affected by Andreas, starting to do weird things too. We were pointing at....

When the moment of fireworks came, I couldn't help but felt extremely disappointed because the whole view was blocked by my future workplace tower, making coming to the barrage to watch fireworks a totally wrong choice. I guess hundreds or thousands of people who were on the roof of the barrage were equally disappointed. The fireworks were not only far but blocked.

It also looked as if the tower was on fire. Sigh, wad to do... Just keep it in mind that if I ever going to watch fireworks, esplanade will still be the best choice!

After the event, thousands of people streamed out of the marina barrage and overwhelmed the bus stop for the chartered bus and bus 400. Thinking that walking would be a better choice to avoid the crowd, we plunged into making the 2nd wrong choice of the day. Simply because it was a 45 min walk frm barrage to MRT station. We almost died while making our way back.

It was an extremely long night because not only that we headed back to Ang Mo Kio for supper, my mei mei and I spent 45 mins to 1 hr trying to clean and wash our picnic mats (used detergent somemore) This is the first time our picnic mats got muddy and dirty with all the grass sticking on them and yellowish residue dripping all over. Dunno wad's wrong with the barrage grass also...

And well...officially slept at 1.30am.... More photos to be uploaded to facebook....
