Episode 2
Dim Sum Breakfast
I fell in love with the dim sum offered by the Tao Heung restaurant last year and decided to patronise it again for this trip. The dim sum might not be the most delicious in hk but given its affordable price and varieties, i never plan to give it a miss in my itinerary.
However, we made a slight wrong decision to go on a sunday morning because each dim sum was priced slightly higher. Moreover, we over ordered once again for a grp of 3. Lol. We ordered 10 longs of dim sum. The food was up to my expectations but we almost have difficulty finishing them up because they were too much.
Something to note when you are ordering food in hk, their food always come in bigger capacity and portion.
-receipt for the breakfast-
Victoria Harbour, Avenue of Stars, Sogo
After our hearty breakfast, we began our touring itinerary. We first started out taking their MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui station where there was a little incident on the way. As it was morning rush hour, the train was super packed. I was forced to stand near the door while papa was way behind but with mummy standing in the middle between the both of us. When we reached our stop, papa forgot to alight, thinking that that was not our destination stop. Luckily, i decided to turn back to check on them and managed to discover in time that papa was still standing inside and quickly ran back to pull him out! He was quite shocked when realising that we were actually heading towards the escalator already. He was abit traumatised as he almost lost us. He managed to calm down a little after that. Everything was back to normal when he reached the Victoria Harbour and he knew that we could start taking photographs already.
-one of my favourite places to shop-
The Peak, Madamme Tussauds Museum, Central
Shortly after a mini shopping trip at the Sogo, we bought a few breads from one of their bakeries at the train station, intending to have them as our lunch at the Chater Garden at Central since we already had a heavy breakfast.
The funny thing is, it is a popular place for Filipinos gatherings, picnics on Sunday. That day, they were having Christmas picnics and mini parties there. Hence, we seemed like the only Chinese family sitting in the garden for meals.
-in the Chater Garden, with the bank of China building in the bkgrd-
Out of my expectations, the walk to the Peak station was a short one albeit it's upslope. There was a long queue and we spent over 30 minutes waiting to get into the tram. Unfortunately, the wait wasn't a very pleasant one because it was stuffy with some many people squeezing here and there to get the queue moving.
Riding on the tram is an experience. It ascended the hill at a very fast speed and it was really upsloped and slanting. It was an amazing scenery outside the tram too.
The very first place we arrived at is the Peak Market where souvenirs and very touristy items were sold there. Papa purchased a teapot with panda pictures on it at a bargained price while I roamed around the area.
And I stumped over this area where it was selling poker cards with very erotic pictures on their covers. Of course, there were more of them than the one below. I managed to secretly snap a shot of it without the staff noticing.
We finally made out way to Madamme Tussauds Museum after all the photo taking at the exteriori of the PEAK. Papa was really excited to visit Wax Museum and eventually, he almost took sole pictures with every single 'person' in there.
-how can we not take a photo with him when we reach there?-
We decided to dine at Hong Kong Bay, one of the eating places at the Peak since everywhere is so expensive there. I'm glad that I chose the correct place as the food there was delicious.
I ordered their signature fried rice while papa ordered curry rice.
-Sky Terrace-
This is another place that reminds me of Marina Bay Sands sky park. The sky terrace resembles the sky park when we can see the night scenery of HK. However, somehow, I felt that MBS sky park has a better view because the sky terrace could only show it in a very restricted angle. I didn't manage to get a good picture of the night scenery because it was so crowded with people 'chopping' standing positions for the famous HK's night lighting show, The Symphony of Lights. Hence, I will be really crazy if I squeeze in all the way to take pictures without being suffocated.
Many people wrote their love messages and wishes on this little heart-shaped board provided and hung them on this 'tree'. It was a 'Say I Love You At Peak' campaign.
At that moment, if only Hunny was there...
We called it off for the night after visiting the sky terrace and once again, a mad queue for the tram to descend the Peak.
We needed to have a good rest for the trip to Macau next day...
*dunno why my face looked so round in all the hk trip photos, luckily, the latest ones from k.l are slightly better....
